Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, under one country two system policy, is celebrating 10^th Anniversary of Reunification with Peoples Republic of China on today the 1^st July 2007.

   The celebrations were marked with the visit by President Hu Jintao, who also administered the oath of office to the Chief Executive Donald Tsang Yam-kuen for a second term. A spectacular fire work display was held at Victoria Harbour. Earlier two pandas were gifted by the Chinese central government to the people of Hong Kong. Monday, the 2nd July 2007, is a public holiday in Hong Kong.

   The past ten years have witnessed lot of progress in the social-economic and political sectors of Hong Kong and proved the pre-handover worries were just a myth. The constant growth Hong Kong achieved during the last decade in terms of Gross Domestic product, Per Capita Income, Hang Seng Index, Port Cargo throughput, Exports, Number of Regional corporate head quarters in Hong Kong, Life expectancy, etc owes their part to the reunification. All these were made possible with the rewarding unification of Hong Kong with China backed with solid vision, dedication, commitment, sincerity, patience, mutual understanding and real unity.

   As we are witnessing an era of corporate mergers, we need to look out for more reunification of governments, where ever possible, as a measure for international peace, sustainable development and social welfare.
